This Might Make You Feel Better...

Wow, much to my surprise, you guys really, really, liked my Bulletin last week on the power of the trench coat. I kinda thought I was writing a little bit of fluff, but I guess it wasn’t! It feels good to know that I gave you all advice on a look that’s so easy to achieve.

In the spirit of tricks, today I’m going to tell you about another secret weapon of mine, the red lip.

To me, the red lip is the ultimate trick because it’s fast, it’s easy, and it’ll get rid of the bags under your eyes. Seriously. Put on a good red lip and all the attention goes there, rather than how tired you are or the pimple you tried to cover up.

It’s the ultimate weapon.

The red lip is just so sophisticated. It’s a look I can do when I don’t have any time. I can put it on when I’m rushing out the door, or when I’m stuck in traffic on my way to a meeting. One of my favorite looks, is to wear no makeup except for the red lip. That’s the perfect balance of drama, and edge, and a contrarian spirit.. Which I love.

My personal go-to, is the NARS Heat Wave. I can wear it with a white button up, or a blazer or a black sweater - anything. If I’m doing Zooms or stuck at home, I can wear it with sweats. It always does the trick. It brightens my face and it makes me look put together, even when I don’t feel like I am.

Now if you’re reading this, and feeling exhausted by the longest month of the year, just go out, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together.

I stole that from Elizabeth Taylor. But still, I do believe the sentiment holds true.

Just put on some red lipstick, throw on a pair of blue jeans and if the weather permits, pull on a trench coat.

Commit to the red lip. Commit to yourself.

That’s the trick.

How To Break Into Styling

A lot of people ask me how to break into styling. My answer, dear reader, is always the same. If you really want to work in fashion, then you should get a job as an assistant.

I love the red lip. I just stopped wearing it because of the mask. In Italy now we have to wear it also outdoor. Any trick for mask and lipstick?

My husband truly is a good, supportive man. He’s kind and never gives me any grief … BUT he tells me I look terrible in red lipstick. I ordered one anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️
